The Metropolitan Institute conducts research on transforming development patterns and the forces that help to shape these changes, such as demographics, environment, technology, design, transportation and governance.

Northeast-Midwest Institute
The Northeast-Midwest Institute is a research organization dedicated to economic vitality, environmental quality, and regional equity. It works closely with the Senate Smart Growth Task Force to identify ways the federal government could assist states and localities in addressing growth management issues.

Texas Transportation Institute
The Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) works closely with state and federal agencies and the private sector to improve the safety and efficiency of the transportation system. It has conducted widely referenced research into the costs of congestion.
