Rouge Valley Health System – Ajax Pickering Hospital
On March 9, 2006, the government announced its commitment to invest in major redevelopment of Rouge Valley Health System’s Ajax-Pickering Hospital. Once the project is completed, the hospital will have an expanded emergency room, diagnostic imaging department, ambulatory care and complex continuing care units and laboratory and mental health services.
Construction is expected to begin in 2007-08.
The Ottawa Hospital & Queensway Carleton – Expanded Cancer Care
The government announced on March 9 2006 its commitment to invest in expanded cancer care in Ottawa giving people better access to cancer care and reducing wait times.
The Ottawa Hospital Regional Cancer Centre project is an integrated cancer program that aims to improve cancer treatment by expanding radiation and associated cancer services at the Ottawa Hospital and Queensway Carleton Hospital.
Renovations and construction are expected to begin in 2007-08.
Toronto Rehabilitation Institute – Strengthened Rehabilitative Care
Residents of the Greater Toronto Area will have improved access to rehabilitative health care services as a result of the government’s April 13, 2006 announcement to invest in a major redevelopment project at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute.
The project includes modernized facilities for 175 rehabilitation beds, increased ambulatory care capabilities and new state-of-the-art technology. The project will also enhance the hospital’s education and research role, creating a world-class rehabilitation laboratory and new research facilities.
New Woodstock General Hospital
The people of Woodstock will have a new, 154- bed hospital as a result of the government’s commitment announced April 21, 2006.
The project includes building the new facility on a Greenfield site to replace outdated facilities. It will also accommodate population growth expected in the area as a result of major automotive manufacturing plants opening up in Woodstock and Simcoe.
Windsor Regional Hospital Redevelopment Project
The province announced its support for a major redevelopment project at the Windsor Regional Hospital on May 24, 2006.
The project at the hospital’s Western Campus includes construction of a new facility for up to 59 longer-term mental health beds as well as renovations to modernize existing facilities. Construction of the project is expected to begin in 2008-09.
