Public infrastructure is vital to every person in Ontario.
It includes:
- Schools where our children learn
- Colleges and universities that equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed in a competitive world economy
- Hospitals and the state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment equipment
- Transit that gets us to and from our destinations and the transportation networks that move goods to market
- Water and wastewater systems that deliver safe, clean water to communities across Ontario
- Recreational facilities and cultural venues that enrich our lives and attract visitors to our communities.
In total, Ontario’s large and complex infrastructure system is valued at more than $266 billion.
The Ontario government works with its partners such as hospitals, school boards, municipalities and transit systems to manage and maintain our existing infrastructure and to build the infrastructure needed to meet the demands of Ontario’s growing population.
